Alcântara had already conquered famous clients with his work. The singer Maria Bethânia has in her house beauty sculptures of wood and other rare pieces of craft, copy of animals found in the State e recreated in a rich ambient of flora and fauna. Many of these pieces are of José Alcântara's authory, who is sculpting a throne which weights more than three thousand kilos and it is evaluated in R$ 25 000.

The sculpture sizes more than 2 meters of high with 90 centimeters of width, it is manufactured in an entire part of "Jacareúba" (very resistant wood) and it shows in its superior part a masterly beauty of a eagle with opened wings in contrast with the ferocity of a painted ounce, which tries out a growl. "It is a conjunct of sculpture where the eagle looks the painted ounce that rounds the throne", defines Alcântara, with his simplicity.

Producing sculptures that vary between one thousand and 12 thousand Reals, Alcântara says that this is the tenth sculpture ordered by the singer. "All the time that the singer (Bethania) comes to Manaus she orders me a new piece", says him. After that the singer approved the drawing of the new piece in December of last year, the sculptor began to work in the throne in January of this year and he should finish it only in December.

"Sculpt a piece like this one takes one year at least . The work must be done slowly because to carve wood demands patients and much creativity" he explains. A painted ounce which carries his cub in its mouth figures as one of the eleven rare pieces of Alcântara, whose are part of the pile of Maria Bethânia. For production with perfection a truth specie, the sculpture was sent to the zoo of the Jungle's Instruction of War Center (Cigs), in Manaus, to be confronted with a true ounce. The meeting of the art and the reality impressed the French photographer Leonilde Príncipe, who developed a work with Alcântara. "With a collar in its neck, the truth ounce growled by seeing the reply", reminds Alcântara with emotion.

With a own technique, Alcântara enchants the affectionates for crafts because he created a way to see and reproduce the animals of the Amazon Jungle with so much art and creativity. With a big variety of sculptures with amazon themes, his works are also found in countries like Corea, in extreme orient and many others.
